I like Christmas. My feeder is always full.
From Alfred at Christmas, one of 296 sayings written by John Sarris over thirty years.
From Alfred’s journal
Snow on the twenty-fourth, and the Hendersons filled the feeder twice before noon. I used to think the holiday was a story about a birth, because that is what the songs are about and I listened to the songs. Then I spent thirty winters at the end of a yard and noticed the seed arrives on schedule whether anyone sings or not. I like Christmas. My feeder is always full. Switch came down for the spillage and said the people inside were arguing about a chair, which struck me as a strange thing to argue about in a warm house. The suet went up at dusk, and nobody mentioned the chair again.

He reads what you tell him and writes a page of his journal back, with a few of these chosen for you. It costs nothing and asks for nothing.
