The pen is mightier than the sword and it's refillable.
From Gray Matters, one of 296 sayings written by John Sarris over thirty years.
From Alfred’s journal
Switch found a ballpoint in the leaves by the mailbox, chewed at one end, and carried it up to me like it was a prize fish. It was dry. I spent a good part of the morning scratching at the margin here getting nothing but a groove in the paper, and then the man in the blue house came out and hunted through a drawer and brought a little plastic tube out to his porch, and the thing wrote again. For years I thought the appeal of the pen was that it was quiet, and that this was why it beat the sword. The pen is mightier than the sword and it's refillable, which is the part nobody puts on a banner. A sword that goes dull goes to a grindstone and comes back smaller; I have never heard of a pen that came back smaller.
