We have enough oars, if we can find enough rowers.
From A World Worth Saving, one of 296 sayings written by John Sarris over thirty years.
From Alfred’s journal
The volunteer crew came out to the pond this morning to haul the winter deadfall, and I counted nine of them standing around a trailer with eleven rakes in it. For years I thought the trouble with any plan was the equipment, that if somebody would only buy the right tools the work would do itself. Two women did most of the hauling. The rest talked about where the brush pile ought to go, which is also a kind of work, though lighter. We have enough oars, if we can find enough rowers. By four o'clock the trailer was half full and the rakes were leaning against the fence in a neat row, which is the part I keep thinking about.
